Smoke over eastern Russia and northern Japan

From July to early October, Earth Probe TOMS detected smoke
from fires in eastern Russia using the TOMS aerosol index. For
most of this period, the smoke was essentially stationary with
some southeast to east movement towards northern Japan. During
the last two weeks, the smoke was transported towards North America.
You can view smoke images of by following the links below. Since
Earth Probe TOMS does not have full global coverage, these images
were created by compositing 2 days worth of data. The largest
amount of data comes from the date specified on the image. The
links below indicate the last day of data used for each image.
